Rachael Mooney is a mixed media artist who likes to go big, get messy, experiment, and make things up.

Her art is a visual reflection on her life - travel across continents, motherhood, and some deep-rooted hurts.

Recently she has used techniques originated by her 5-year old son, whose uninformed out of bounds chaos inspired her to think differently about how she makes art. She deploys glue, pigment, polyfilla, and paint in ways that are not ‘as instructed’. She has burnt and broken art she had previously created and mixed it with these materials to give the texture and depth in what you see.

She has made art in both considered containers for artists such as the Tate Modern’s Raw Canvas Programme and wild-style, with no structure, driven purely by her own passion and intuition.
